Pyorrhea or periodontist is the condition when there is bleeding and discharge of pus from the gums. The discharge occurs from the root of the teeth and the gums, and this leads to an extremely bad odor in the mouth.

Herbal Home cure for Pyorrhea

Pyorrhea does not always necessitate a visit to the dentist. Many a time it can occur due to lack of oral and dental hygiene. In the earlier stages it can be kept in check by just following some home cure. These are some of the most potent home cure that are effective in keeping pyorrhea in check:-

After brushing your teeth each morning, take some mustard oil and put some salt in it. Then take this mixture on the tip of your forefinger and rub it gently onto the gums. If this seems to be too painful, then take a wad of cotton, soak it in the oil and use this cotton to rub on your gums. Repeat this before going to bed in the night. In a few days, your complaints of bleeding gums will vanish. This is one of the useful pyorrhea home cure.

Take some leaves of the parwal (pointed gourd, Trichosanthes diocia), some ginger, black pepper, pee pal root (Ficus religiosa) and rock salt. These are the ingredients. Make a brew out of them by boiling all these things in a vessel of water. When the decoction is ready, strain it through a cloth and cool it. Use this for gargling. If you have pyorrhea complaints, this will give relief within a few days. This is one of the useful home cure for pyorrhea.

The bark of the banyan tree has extremely good benefits in the treatment of pyorrhea. Take four to five pieces of this bark and put it in a vessel of water. Bring this water to a boil. The essences of the bark will get steeped out into the water. After boiling for about half an hour, turn off the flame and keep it aside for cooling. Strain the decoction through a cloth. Then use the filtrate for gargling. This is very good remedy for stopping the gums from bleeding. This is the simplest pyorrhea treatment.

Take about 200 milliliters of castor oil, about five grams of camphor and about 100 milliliters of honey. Blend all these together. Then take a neem twig. Immerse this twig in the prepared paste and use it to rub on the teeth. Do this daily once. It is a very good remedy for treatment of pyorrhea. This is a good natural remedy for pyorrhea.

Take the juice of a lemon and rub it on the gums directly. This produces a slight tingling sensation on the gums, but it does relieve the bleeding. This is one of the natural remedy for pyorrhea.  One of the useful home cure for pyorrhea is to take a mouthful of sesame oil and let it remain in the mouth for about ten minutes. At the same time, try to gargle the oil in the mouth. Throw it out after ten minutes are over. This ensure a stop to the bleeding of the gums.

Burn some pieces of the trunk of the acacia tree. Blow out the flames before complete combustion takes place. This will produce a coke-like product of the acacia trunk. Store these pieces in a cool, dry place. Every morning take a small piece from this and completely dab it in salt. Use this for cleaning the teeth. Rub it directly onto the teeth.

You can even immerse the piece of acacia trunk in some mustard oil before dabbing it with the salt. It gives good benefits in stopping the bleeding of gums. If the pyorrhea is coupled with pain in the gums, then the following remedy will work. Take some pure ghee and mix some camphor in it. Apply this paste slowly onto the gums twice in a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. Then gargle with plain water. This will stop the bleeding. This is one of the good pyorrhea cure.

Take some pepper and crush it to a fine powder. Then add some salt to the mixture. Mix them well. Massage the gums gently with this mixture several times a day. This is a very good and effective remedy for pyorrhea. Another effective home remedy for pyorrhea Cut a raw guava into four quarters. It doesn’t matter if it is slightly hard. Apply a little salt on it. Then bite each piece of the guava and eat it. Not only will this taste excellent, but it will smear the vitamin C on the teeth and will be very useful remedy for pyorrhea. Just remember to bite the guava properly though. Make a mixture of spinach juice and carrot juice taken in equal measures  to fill one soup bowl. Drink this mixture of soups once every day. It is very good to maintain gingival hygiene. This is one of the important home cure for pyorrhea.


How to get rid of Pyorrhea

Pyorrhea is a definite indicator of poor dental hygiene. A person who does not take care of the teeth is the first in line to be affected from gum problems. There are some measures which can help prevent pyorrhea.
The following are some of the important guidelines:-

(i) Brush your teeth regularly. If your gums are too sensitive, then use a soft-bristled nylon toothbrush.

(ii) The teeth must be brushed at least twice a day; once in the morning when you wake up and once before retiring for the night.

(iii) If you have large spaces between your teeth, then use an inter-dental toothbrush to remove the embedded particles.

(iv) Have a good gargle after each meal. This is important to remove the
particles adhering in the inter spaces of the teeth.

(v) For more obstinate particles, use a toothpick to remove them.
Even when pyorrhea sets in, there are several things one must do to prevent the aggravation. There are several indications and contra-indications that influence pyorrhea. The following are some of
them:-

(i) Do not consume any food that is sour in taste, such curds and pickles. Even sour fruits must be avoided.

(ii) However, fruits such as pomegranates, guava and the amalaki (Indian Gooseberry) which are sour in taste are very good for pyorrhea, due to the large amount of vitamin C in it.

(iii) Fruits such as apples, papayas and cucumber are good for pyorrhea. They can be had in fair amounts.

(iv) All bitter vegetables are good in this condition, such as bitter gourd and the bitter variety of drumstick.
